No. 1 UCLA, Vu win at Northrop Grumman

Lilia Vu of UCLA tied for the sixth title of her career and led the top-ranked Bruins to their fourth consecutive victory by four strokes over Alabama in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.

After finishing second in the Annika Intercollegiate, UCLA reeled off victories in the Stanford Intercollegiate, the Nanea Pac-12 Preview and the Battle of the Beach to wrap up the Fall season.

This time, the Bruins posted a score of 292-284-291—867, 15-over-par, followed by Alabama at 292-284-295—871, Stanford at 295-292-289—876, Arizona at 285-292-306—883 and Arizona State at 285-298-301—884.

Texas was sixth at 298-296-291—885, followed by Florida at 296-293-301—890, Duke at 297-292-304—893, Washington at 297-299-298—894 and USC at 295-306-299—900.

San Diego State finished 18th at 303-312-308—923.

Vu, a junior from Fountain Valley who was five strokes behind entering the final round, carded a score of 75-69-68—212, 1 under, and played bogey-free in the final round to back up her victory last time out in the Battle at the Beach.

Olivia Mehaffey of Arizona State shot 68-71-73—212 and tied for first with Vu and Kaitlyn Papp of Texas, who totaled 69-71-72—212.

Andrea Lee of Stanford was fourth at 71-74-69—214, followed by Bethany Wu of UCLA at 70-72-73—215, Lakareber Abe of Alabama at 73-71-72—216 and Kristen Gillman, also of Alabama, at 69-74-74—217.

Mika Liu of Stanford shot 72-72-74—218 to tie for eighth with Lauren Stephenson of Alabama, who finished at 74-68-76—218, and Chih-Min Chen of Oklahoma State, who wound up at 70-74-74—218.

Alyaa Abdulghany led USC in a tie for 18th at 73-74-74—221 and Sara Kjellker of San Diego State tied for 34th at 74-72-78—224.

Rounding out the scoring for team champion UCLA were Patty Tavatanakit in a tie for 11th at 71-69-79—219, Mariel Galdiano in a tie for 30th at 78-74-71—223, Joo Seo in a tie for 76th at 76-79-80—235 and Erin Choi in a tie for 79th at 77-82-78—237.
