Pepperdine men claim record 19th WCC title

Clay Feagler of Pepperdine won the individual title and led the Waves to their record 19th West Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee.

Pepperdine claimed the WCC title for the first time since 2015 after finishing second the last two years with a score of 280-283-275—838, 26-under-par, followed by St. Mary’s at 282-296-285—863, while Santa Clara totaled 290-291-285—866 to tie for third with BYU, which finished at 297-275- 294—866.

San Francisco was fifth at 290-295-287—872, followed by Loyola Marymount at 292-294-292—878, San Diego at 302-290-290—882, Pacific at 300-297-286—883 and Gonzaga at 292-295-299—886.

Feagler, a sophomore from Laguna Nigel, claimed his second college victory with a score of 70-69-63—202, 14-under-par, and tied the school record with his score in the final round to outdistance Perry Cohen of St. Mary’s, who finished at 66-74-70—210.

Joshua McCarthy of Pepperdine shot 68-73-70-211 to tie for third with Rhett Rasmussen of BYU, who wound up at 72-66-73—211, while Riley Elmes of Loyola Marymount totaled 71-67-74—212 to tie for fifth with Pavan Sagoo of St. Mary’s, who came in at 72-74-66—212.

RJ Manke of Pepperdine was seventh at 70-72-71—213, followed by Sahith Theegala of Pepperdine at 72-70-72—214.

Hayden Shieh of Santa Clara finished at 74-71-70—215 to tie for ninth with Patrick Fishburn of BYU, who totaled 71-69-75—215, Derek Ackerman of Santa Clara, who shot 75-73-67—215, Toby Briggs of San Francisco, who wound up at 73-71-71—215,

Dalton Hankamer of San Diego, who carded a score of 69-74-72—215, and Jalen Griffin of San Francisco, who finished at 74-71-70—215.

Austin Fox led Pacific in a tie for 16th at 76-70-72—218.
