Ordian, CS San Marcos claim WNMU titles

Caroline Ordian of Redlands claimed her seventh college title and Cal State San Marcos won the team championship in the Western New Mexico University Fall Classic at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.

Ordian, a senior from Palm Desert who captured the 2016 NCAA Division III Individual Women’s Championship and the SCIAC Championship, carded a score of 72-72—144, even par.

Jaime Jacob of Cal State San Marcos shot 72-73—145 to tie for second with Shelby Turner of Western New Mexico, who finished at 71-74—145, while Jules Loibl of Biola totaled 73-74—147 to tie for fourth with Courtney Ewing of Colorado State-Pueblo, who wound up at 72-75—147, and Peerada Piddon of Arkansas Tech, who came in at 77-70—147.

Jamie Lopez led Holy Names at 78-79—157 in a tie for 22nd that included Christine Perez of Point Loma at 78-79—157, while Emily Rotter of Chico State tied for 34th at 73-86—159.

Rounding out the scoring for team champion Cal State San Marcos were Bergen Benedict in a tie for ninth at 76-73—149, Claire Hogle in a tie for 16th at 78-76—154, Sarah Garcia in a tie for 22nd at 76-81—157, and Savannah Magallon in a tie for 34th at 78-81—159.

Cal State San Marcos took the team title with a score of 302-303—605, followed by

Arkansas Tech at 307-299—606, Colorado Mesa at 306-314—620, Regis at 309-312—621 and Colorado State-Pueblo at 308-315—623.

Biola posted a score of 313-313—626 to tie for sixth with Embry Riddle, which shot 307-319—626, and Western New Mexico, which totaled 307-319—626.

Holy Names was ninth at 314-319—633, Chico State tied for 12th at 316-334—650,

Point Loma Nazarene was 14th at 329-322—651, and Redlands was 16th at 340-330—670.
