Krause claims 101st L.A. City title by 5 shots

Damon Krause of Los Angeles captured the 101st Los Angeles City Golf Championship by five strokes over Lewis Simon of Torrance and Richard Kim of Los Angeles on the Wilson Course at Griffith Park Golf Club.

Krause, who tied for third in the tournament last year and is the Griffith Park men’s club champion, posted a score of 67-71-67-70—275, 13-under-par.

Simon carded a score of 72-72-66-70—280 and Kim finished at 72-72-68-68—280, while Blake Brothers of San Juan Capistrano was fourth at 72-68-72-69—281, followed by Chuck Ruiz of Santa Clarita at 76-68-69-71— 284.

Han Seop Lee of Chino Hills shot 69-66-73-77—285 to tie for sixth with Tongun Lako Losarah of Upland, who wound up at 72-66-75-72—285, and Will Strauss of La Jolla, who finished at 73-70-70-72—285.

Joshua Suh of La Canada carded a score of 72-69-72-75—288 to tie for ninth with Timothy Snyder of Thousand Oaks, who totaled 70-70-75-73—288, and Youssef Guezzale of San Diego, who came in at 72-70-70-76—288.

Defending champion Mason Troike of Orangevale tied for 12th at 69-75-75- 71—290.

Justin Hannah of San Dimas won the A Flight with a score of 72-69—139, followed by Edwin Rabanal of Pomona at 67-73—140, Patrick Johnson of Westminster at 73-70—143, Fulgentus Wong of Montebello at 72-74—146 and Tameem Mohammad of Pasadena at 69-78—147.

J.R. Brillantes of Sherman Oaks won the B Flight at 65-72—137, followed by Bryan Banks of Los Angeles at 68-71—139, Russell Low of Fountain Valley at 71-72—143, Mike Pastrano of Hermosa Beach at 73-71—144 and Ryan Crowe of 75-72—147.

Steven Yablok of Los Angeles took the C Flight at 70-67—137, followed by Chase Bryant of Los Angeles at 74-68—142 and Merico Ortega of Burbank at 70-73—143, while Mark Coronella of Los Angeles shot 73-71—144 to tie for fourth with Bennett Salvay of Tarzana, who also finished at 73-71—144.

Peter Griffes of Los Angeles won the D Flight with a score of 72-66—138, followed by Joey Manfre of Los Angeles at 72-67—139 and Art Adamian of Burbank at 72-72—144, while Michael Cooper of Canyon Country totaled 78-67—145 to tie for fifth with Ron Tom of Pasadena, who wound up at 72-73—145.

The A through D Flights were determined by net scores.
